If you want to read about Roosevelt presidency this is not the right book, as IT is all about how the man was created until he got the highest position in the (current) world. It explains in detail how is character traits were formed and all his decisions in life.
I mainly read biographies with two purposes: learn about history and be inspired by life achievers. And boy if I got both of them in plenty here.
He was a relentless human being that rose faster than anyone to the highest spot, and he influenced too much of world history in that path.
The book uses his diary and other writings from those years but is written in an envolving and fluent way that you don't really realize it.
I have to confess how inspired I was by his life, even though I was disappointed to what he eventually achieved in world history. First of all, his fight against the promiscuity of business and politics was of a true hero, almost the same caliber he had to have on the battlefield in Cuba. ON the other hand, after reading this book you get the feeling he was the man responsible for the beginning of American Imperialism and all the actions and influences they have had since. His passion for war, and belief that it was necessary for humanity to evolve made me want to stop reading a dozen times. He was a bulldozer and had no consideration for others, especially after they were dead, which happened too frequently.
I loved the book, and I loved and hated to know about Theodore Rosevelt. Considered by many, one of the top 5 if not 3 of American Presidency, as he sits side by side with the great in Mount Rushmore.
