The Fall of Atlantis by Marion Zimmer Bradley

3.0

Having picked up this book purely because I had enjoyed this author's work in the past, I've come to realize that I was definitely spoiled by Mists of Avalon. For too long the plot of Atlantis felt meandering, and other than laying the groundwork for the action which seemed to happen entirely in the span of the final few chapters, a lot of what happened didn't really feel like "happening" at all. I felt little for the characters, despite the turmoil they experienced, and wondered if that would change up until the end. I don't think the synopsis really does the plot justice, either-- I had expected a completely different book than what I ended up with. While I can say that it picked up enough to have a page turner status toward the end, I would recommend plenty of other books before this one.
