Heck yeah, this was even better than I could have expected. The rating is maybe between 4.5 and 5 stars. It took a bit, but once I was hooked after a quarter of the way in, I didn't want to pause the audiobook at all! I was immensely invested in the couple, absolutely stoked by the roommate romance that actually used that whole "second chance" trope really well. I also enjoyed quite a bit of the side characters. I think the only thing that put me off in the first quarter was that the reader lacks a lot of past information that won't be revealed until later, although it is relatively easy to make educated guesses.

I enjoyed following along Charlie's journey cementing himself as a boy, becoming more sure of himself after finding a wonderful support group, especially Xavier. I found myself rooting for Charlie, and not being upset when he made mistakes or held his feelings back because they made sense, and there was no way I could be mad at him or Jasper. This story explores a lot when it comes to Trans identity, the mental struggle of being your true self, yet not being able to reveal yourself and your struggles fully. The struggle of looking in a mirror and maybe not seeing the same person that everyone else sees. The school itself is also intense, with a ton of expectations and rules placed on the students, adding to Charlie's situation. I loved Jasper's character as well, and he also grows so much.

The last half of the book was thoroughly enjoyable in general. A very quick, cute, and charming read. I love a good, fluffy, fun story with lovable characters and a romance that makes you kick your feet, what can I say?
