There are so many similarities between The Wife Upstairs and Verity by Colleen Hoover that it’s hard to believe I didn’t read the same book twice, especially considering the layout is the same with alternating chapters from the narrator’s POV and the diary excerpts. Because of this, I found a lot of the filler chapters quite boring and repetitive and the writing felt lacking.
However saying this, I did enjoy the book and I always manage to get through Freida’s books really quickly due to their quick and easy writing style! I definitely preferred the ending to this book over Verity’s ending.
