Wow. This is the first book of the trilogy that I have read, and I am amazed. I've always loved historical fiction. Not only does this novella have that, but Rutkoski also integrated a tale of the goatherd and the snow god. The heart-breaking, bittersweet tale of star-crossed lovers. What more can a girl ask for?
I do wish the novella was longer. I wanted to read in more vivid details the beautiful tale. I heard that this will play a part in Book 2 and Book 3, so I certainly can't wait for that.
I just DNF-ed the Captive series by Erica Stevens because of the insipid, spineless heroine and the monotonous vampire that only exists because of his looks alone, so I have high hopes for this trilogy. I need a good series to cleanse my soul.
