I loved getting to hear Anna's story.  Revisiting beloved characters from the first book.  Honestly this one was just as delightful as the first.  A sweet mix of cozy, adventure, mystery, and romance.  Another beautiful blend of a present and past romance echoing eachother.

I don't know much of Russia so it was intersting to read about the active jacobite community there.  Little glimpses into an era of history in a geographical location that's relatively unknown to me were fun to hear about.  Beyond the last Jacobite rising I don't think I realized just how active they all remained or how widespread they all were in an effort to remain safe and try to get their king on the throne.

It's funny how the history can be fascinating, the topic rather grave, and yet the cozy sweetness these books deliver is undeniable and refreshing.
