The Apple Tree is a standalone in the Sunday Morning series. I promise, you can completely read this as a standalone (but you’ll probably end up reading the series).
It’s a love story between Eve and Kyle. Eve is funny, witty, and relatable. She is every girl with a crush, and we are her. It’s an age gap, small town romance with religious angst. It offers dual pov to explore maturity, morality, and generational trauma; and it’s beautiful. It’s not dramatic or repetitive, it’s a quick read and feels honest. That’s all you need to know. Go in blind, live it with them.
Honestly, I ate this book down to the core. Just enough spice, and everything nice. I would have loved more depth and character development- each characters scars were so interesting. 10/10 recommend.
TW: Suicidal ideation, alcoholism, light spice
