Saga, Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan
4.0

I picked this up to read because it was on the ALA Banned Books of 2014 list, and our library didn't own it. That always makes me wonder why, so I got my hands on a copy.

The story here is solid, in fact its one of the best I've read in graphic form. There is definitely creativity and imagination on display, and I can see why it has earned so many accolades. I also, though, can see why it was banned. This is not a book for young people - there is a lot of violence, vore, and nudity. There are a few graphic novels that are truly for adults, and this is one of them. Sadly, it also means my library will continue not to own it since we don't go past YA in our graphic novel ordering. :(
