The Stranger Beside Me
by Ann Rule
Obviously there is a big living conversation about True Crime currently and we're going to look back on a lot of the current Murder Podcasts with a sick stomach (I say this as a huge Last Podcast on the Left fan so I'm at least aware of my hypocrisy)
This book is, in my opinion, an important exception to the discourse. Ann Rule weaves in her personal relationship with an historical shitbag asshole with delicate, not overly sensational, and empathetic writing about the people we should be discussing, the victims.
Idk man I like true crime, serial killers are fascinating to me and I love to learn about them and this book is the gold standard for how I think they should be discussed.
