Corsets & Clockwork: 13 Steampunk Romances by Trisha Telep

4.0

Overall a very delightful anthology with varying emphasis on steampunk and romance. In fact, I would argue that one (Chickie Hill's Badass Ride), as charming as it is, has no steampunk at all because just putting some steam in a car doesn't quite cut it but it was a damn fun story. The stories ranged from bittersweet to funny to even kind of creepy (thank you, The Cannibal Fiend of Rotherhithe). I wanted some to be longer (ex Tick Tick Boom) and some where just perfect as is. At least one was kind of gut-punching given the timing of Ukraine's suffering and persecution (Under Amber Skies). Deadwood had me cackling. Code of Blood felt like a wonderful mix of fairy tale and alternate history. Rude Mechanicals cracked me up. The King of the Greenlight City damn near broke my heart.
