Great book but not for me. The book lacked a sense of emotional fulfillment and the protagonist is driven exclusively by rage.
The book is divided into 3 major parts. The first is Rin studying for the Keju, an exam that will allow her to escape an arranged marriage and attend a military academy at Sinegard.
The second is Rin fighting in the war and gets really graphic.
The third is Rin following her commander who she knows is doing the wrong thing and ending the war.
It's a brutal book and the bloodlust of the protagonist is hard to read firsthand, but fantastically written.
