A slow burn that fizzles out.
I liked the mood that this book created, even though the protagonist is dull as dishwater… at least his grandmother’s stories were more interesting than his own.  However, this got messier and messier as it tried to wrap itself up and ultimately gave up on the effort.  All the loose ends are tied up at least, but in a very rushed and anticlimactic manner that was not in keeping with the rest of the book.
