The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

5.0

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I was put off slightly by the premise, but as many reviewers before me have said, this is one of those books that is REAL, whether or not it is historically accurate. Heartbreaking, shocking, and yet so full of life, it kept me at the edge of my seat quite often.

Listening to the audiobook was amazing because the narrator did a great job, and kept the book paced in a way that didn't allow me to skim. I really appreciated this, especially because there were many scenes that were so hard to stomach, and yet I was able to get the full effect through the narration.
