 🌶️
How dare Sarah J. Maas make me feel bad for every terrible thought I had about Bryce Quinlan. Honestly, I still don't know how I feel about Bryce but SJM definitely knows how to write character growth. The blurb of this book really doesn't do it any sort of justice. Having come from A Court of Mist and Fury I didn't know if I was getting into another "just make it to book two" situation. No, I got myself into another series I must binge situation. I don't read the blurbs for the next books in the series until I have finished the previous, and now I wish I just hadn't until I was ready to read House of Sky and Breath because now I have to decide between it and getting back to ACoTaR.

This book is dark, emotional and full of intense situations. The characters have so much depth to match this beautiful world SJM has created. I am not talking about or giving any credence to fan theories about book series connections. I mean the world contained in this book. It's so vast and deep even while most of the time we are only in Crescent City. I don't think I have enjoyed a Fae Urban Fantasy this much since Tithe. Which is one of my all-time favorite series. Also, otter messengers, that is all.
