Laughter in the Dark by Vladimir Nabokov

2.0

I recently read and adored Pale Fire. So I was hoping for a book in a similar vein... but not so much. The characters were so unlikeable (which, I know, was the point) that I couldn't feel any sympathy. And the black humor was so heavy-handed that I was just irritated. The one saving grace was the actual writing, which Nabakov, as usual, excels at.
