This is an excellent book all around. I loved the characters and they all felt very real, pulling me into the story. A lot of times the protagonist can be refined while their relationships with others are rough, but not so here. It’s all polished and smooth. I loved the unbeatable spirit of Cassie, and I loved the convictions and poise of the mother, and I thoroughly enjoyed every scene involving the really big guy (can’t remember the characters name atm). He ends up doing a lot of things that I was surprised by, because he isn’t merely the muscle or some violence loving character - he reminded me of how Ifelt about Coffee (I forget the spelling) from the Green Mile in that he was a gentle giant.
