Anne of the Island
by L.M. Montgomery
Some lovely and moving moments, and the favorite characters from the first books have at least some cameos here. A couple of new characters, especially Phil, are also fun to spend time with. I didn't quite like this as much as the first two novels - the household Anne sets up with her friends at college is fun to read about, but otherwise adult Anne isn't quite as charming a character as she was as a child. Also, a big chunk of the plot is taken up by an annoying will-they-or-won't-they between Anne and Gilbert, which was kind of boring and marred by a not terribly convincing third act separation. Still, a sweet novel and I plan to continue on with the series.
