Troublemaker by Kayley Loring

5.0

Loved, loved, loved it!! Alex and Emilia were another brilliantly crafted couple, but the precocious seven year old Ryder completely stole the show and my heart!

Kayley Loring's books bring me joy everytime I read one. Her writing never fails to bring a smile to my face. They are funny, fresh, and every child character she writes make me laugh, but Ryder in particular brought out the snort-laughs. He is so full of spunk and he's smart, but he's also just a child filled with innocence so he never does things out of deviousness. I could read his antics all day long.

As for Alex, Ryder's single dad...the actual main hero in the book...he is hilarious as well. The way Kayley writes is absolutely brilliant. To be in the mind of her male characters is both like being inside the mind of a grown child, because let's face it all men are just big children, and also the other half is filled with more or less dirty thoughts because yes they are men. Kayley has tapped into this mindset so flawlessly it makes it so I hate when her books come to an end.

Alex Vega is a divorcee and hasn't dated seriously since his divorce, but when his son, Ryder, begins 2nd grade the new teacher, Emilia Stiles is exactly the woman of his dreams. It just also happens she is the same woman who caught his eye at a club before the school year started and he hasn't stopped thinking about her since that night, so he's chalking it up as fate. Since Emilia is Ryder's teacher and she doesn't want to cross any boundaries or appear to have favorites they keep their relationship platonic, but how long can it last, especially when Ryder is involved?

Emilia is quirky, smart and just the right amount of dirty for Alex. She is smitten with both Vega boys which makes her endearing from the get go, but so do her horrible teacher sweaters and her love of color coding. I'm a sucker for all of that. Her friendship grows with Alex and Ryder, the troublemaker, who might help push things along. Okay...can you tell how adorable this book is...seriously, you will love it. It's a total feel good book.
