The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis
3.0

Well it was not that bad. Indeed, when you reread a children's book as an adult(-ish), you will see it in a new perspective (and find some new problems too)

I am still pissed out that Susan is
Spoilerno longer friend of Narnia, though.
She is the most relatable character for me and Lewis' treatment of her is just...harsh.

I do not like how the Calormenes are pictured. Evil barbarian "darkies" country, whose inhabitants wear turban and use scimitar, stinks of onions and garlics, and has almost no redeemable quality except a few decent people now and then, compared to Narnia, the country of white gallant knights and fair maidens and freedom-loving talking beasts. Perhaps when writing this, C.S. Lewis did not expect his works would be this popular and eventually be read by people from other side of the world who thinks, "whoops this description of barbarian country sounds awfully similar to the Western misconception of MY people and MY culture."

Well, not exactly mine, but still.

And I still think a lot of problem could be avoided if only King Tirian was not such a foolish Gryffindor.

Yes I just fused Narnia and Harry Potter universe. Sue me.

Full review after Eid (yes, really).
