I enjoyed this historical fiction, even though historical fiction isn't my preferred genre. I knew nothing about the female spies involved in WW1 so it was a fascinating period to experience through this story.

The moving back and forth between 1947 and 1915 was done well and fairly seamless. It was easy enough to keep track and I loved the way to timelines connected in the end. While Eve was a difficult character for me to connect with in 1947, her story in 1915 explained a lot of her history and helped me connect with her character overall. I really liked the ending - I like a happy ending for everyone and it felt that was to me.

The only difficult parts for me were the moments of torture that were described, an important part of the story but tough to read. I skimmed as necessary to make it through. The spicy content was minimal and not descriptive, which is my preference in a book. Yes, we know the adult scenes are happening but every moment is not described in detail.
