In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune

4.0

My first "because of a book" cry of 2024. Thanks, TJ Klune. This broke my heart in a thousand ways; however, the reminder that humanity is complicated, but full of so much good put it back together again.

My rating is closer to a 3.5, but we'll round up for posterity's sake. The beginning and end were strong for me, but the middle left a bit to be desired. Almost like there wasn't enough adventure and every problem resolved itself too quickly. And - sorry, I know everyone loves them, but - I did not enjoy Rambo or Nurse Ratched. I found them annoying throughout, less so towards the end. Overall, this was a great introduction to Klune's work and I hope I can get around to reading more of his works this year.
