This one isn't particularly original or subtle, but it's definitely an entertaining feminist horror novel! If you're looking for something witchy, historical, and fast-paced, I think you'll like this one. The atmosphere and characters are solid, as is the overall message about women in patriarchal societies.
It's no secret that I struggle with books that have heavy-handed religious elements, and this book was no exception. The overall message isn't necessarily religious, but there are a lot of Biblical symbols and elements to follow. There are also several scenes of gratuitous violence towards animals, which I had to skim through.
