The Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston

3.0

A beautifully written, heartbreaking, but adventurous and entertaining read. But I felt there were a lot of things that didn't make sense, and while the magic was cool it always felt strange when it came into play. And Gideon's motivations made no sense to me: he is an extremely flat villain. I really enjoyed the entertainment value and the quality of the writing. But I wish the magic aspect would have been more subtle, because the extravagant use of it made the parts when it wasn't used make less sense. And character motivations didn't always make sense either.

Overall a fun read.
