What is the purpose of this book? There's a bunch of girls who get assaulted, battered, raped, but why? Is the point that these things are bad? And that women have suffered throughout history? Okay cool I already know that. I don’t need to read about it in detail. The magical realism was not that interesting. The characters seemed like vessels for a message rather than like real people with real feelings. I think that is okay when you’re trying to get across a message in the lit fic genre but when you are dealing with issues that are so deeply personal and triggering, it doesn’t work. I was already bored, but making it so graphic was unnecessary. Maybe if I powered through there would be a reason for it all, but I simply do not care.

Not interesting, not fun, not entertaining, not emotional, and only rehashes overdone topics. Why even write a book if this is all you have to say?
