The Unconsoled by Kazuo Ishiguro
3.0
One day I might go back and finish this book but this isn’t the right time.
It clearly is an excellent piece of fiction, so well-written in fact, that the feelings of unease, timelessness and disorientation are too much to bear.
If you’ve ever had the kind of nightmare where you’re constantly late, don’t even know where you need to be and have always forgotten something, this is the book that perfectly captures that feeling.
About halfway through, I still don’t know what the main event is that the protagonist is in town for, nor do I know if the protagonist truly knows.
Definitely different from other novels Ishiguro has written.
