"The Reformatory" is a story set in a children's prison, similar to the Dozier School in Marianna, Florida. The young protagonist, Robert, is sent there for protecting his sister from a white boy's unwelcome advances. Not only does he encounter actual ghosts, but he also grapples with the reformatory's malevolent caretaker. Within the eerie confines of the institution, Robert must navigate through mostly benign spectral figures and the ever-present menace of the wicked warden. His love for his sister, inherent sense of justice, and indomitable spirit give him strength. "The Reformatory" is a chilling testament to human resilience in the face of intense adversity.
