Love by Toni Morrison

3.0

The story is good. The imagery is good. The writing is difficult to follow at times and it wasn't until I was more than half way through that I felt I understood why I was reading the book... what outcome I was waiting for. It was often difficult to remember who the main women were to each other. Morrison is a beautiful writer, but I think on some level it's overdone. It reads like poetry instead of like a typical novel which made it hard to get into right away until I picked up on the cadence of her writing. It might be even more difficult for an average reader. It was beautiful... but I wonder if it could've been written in a more accessible way.
