Filthy Secret by Serena Akeroyd

5.0

Ahh... this book! Serena Akeroyd did it again! It is everything that I expected and so much more! The world build up in this series is utterly amazing!!! But nothing could have prepared me for some of the secrets and revelations that were brought to light! These revelations connected so well with each other! Personally, Serena Akeroyd is the queen of plot twists! And as I read each book in this series she leaves me speechless! Every. Single. Time! Combing the events from the first book "Filthy", leading up to book #5, "Filthy Hot", were synchronized, flowing effortlessly in this book. I was scared yet so curious to begin reading Filthy Secret. Because I just knew that this read was going to be an emotional rollercoaster, and I was right.

I immensely enjoyed reading all the characters' perspectives. Especially Lena's, I liked seeing her view of the situation, her past, backstory and the internal battles she had. She's the heart of the O'Donnelly family; she's a pillar of strength because nobody can handle Aiden Snr. like she can. But Lena has a heavy heart; her facade is crumbling. And I was so happy to see Conor's character unravel a bit more! Can't wait to read the next book, "Filthy King"! I'm hoping he will get his HEA. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of multiple POVs (more than 3) however, with Serena's outstanding writing technique it was an easy quick transition from one POV to another. And the ending!! I have so many questions!!

Finn and Aoife have earned a special place in my heart! I mean, I loved them when I read Filthy but seeing their relationship in this book made me love them even more! Grief, sadness and heartbreak. Broken promises, betrayal, lies, and their undeniable fierce love for each other. Aoife and Finn's interactions had my heart soaring and breaking at the same time, and yes, I did get teary from time to time. Their relationship was a turbulent journey pushing Aoife and Finn to breaking point. And Aoife's character truly shone in this book! Seeing Aoife going through so much pain as the secrets surrounding her past were uncovered... my heart physical ached for her. And let's not forget the family's interactions! Serena! I don't know how you do it, but whenever I read the brothers dialogues I always, always end up laughing out loud!

The O'Donnellys might have a tightknit relationship with each other but they kept dirty dark secrets from each other. And the secrets they kept hidden for so many years are slowly unravelling. A dutiful husband, father, brother and son. Finn was torn between keeping his family's secret and telling his wife, Aoife the truth. The guilt weighing heavily on his soul forced Finn to finally tell her the truth. Nothing will ever  be the same; no one will be left unscathed. The moment of truth has arrived at the O'Donnellys' doorstep. The very foundation of the O'Donnellys started to crumble. Because when these dirty secrets are out in the open, they will slowly break the O'Donnellys to the point of no return.
