Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson

4.0

This book was one of my favorites when I was in middle school, and I recently revisited it for comfort during thesis writing. Still great and very cute and with such a good sense of place. Also, one of the reasons I loved this book when I was younger is that it really conveyed being a very naive, well-behaved kid but sort of wanting not to be in way that felt true to life (or my experience at least) -- I feel like lots of YA books I was reading at the time did this in a weirdly condescending, corny way, but Peaches is great about it. Also, it's one of the books I read over and over that have kind of a lot of trivia packed into them that have stuck with me over time, so I'm very grateful for that.
