overall a lot of very good things about this book. thoroughly enjoyed it as a story. the writing is incredibly well done, the characterizations were impeccable, the metaphors were superb.

it faltered for me in a two main ways: one, i don’t really care for greek myth. honestly thought it would dip more bc of it but the last half of the book was very strong and incredibly interesting to me even tho idgaf abt greek myth.

two, i could tell what was going to unfold via all the foreshadowing, which i did enjoy tbf but still felt like i knew how everything would climax type vibe.

even still, the writing and the story were extremely well done, very interesting, and super duper good. thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed.

“The beginning of hope. We have given each other wounds, but they are not mortal. Briseis will not be harmed and Achilles will remember himself and my wrist will heal. There will be a moment after this, and another after that.”

songs that reminded me of this book:

  • Best of Wives and Best of Women by Lin Manuel Miranda
  • The Prophecy by Taylor Swift
