Pigeon-Blood Red by Ed Duncan

(GIFTED)

For underworld enforcer Richard "Rico" Sanders, it seemed like an ordinary job: retrieve his gangster boss's stolen goods, and teach the person responsible a lesson.

But the chase quickly goes sideways and takes Rico from the mean streets of Chicago to sunny Honolulu. There, the hardened hit man finds himself in uncharted territory, when innocent bystanders are accidentally embroiled in a crime. As Rico pursues his new targets, hunter and prey develop an unlikely respect for one another. Soon, he is faced with a momentous decision: follow his orders to kill the very people who have won his admiration, or refuse and endanger the life of the woman he loves?

Firstly, as always I would like to thank Kelsey and the team at @bookpublicityservices for the #gifted copy!

Pigeon-Blood Red is action packed and fast paced! I do not usually read storylines about gangsta’s however I enjoyed the narrative very much and would be interested to try more!

The characters went through fazes of being unlikeable to likeable which created an exciting yet tense read as you did not know where the book was heading and how you would feel towards the end.

The only reason why I gave the book 3 stars was because I felt like it was a little rushed. It was quite a small book of 203 pages and I felt like there were moments where there could have been potential character background stories to showcase emotion and development.

Overall, this is a fun quick read! If you enjoy gangsta’s, crime, romance etc… this is for you.
