The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

2.0

Probably the most overrated book I've read aside from Night Circus. Their relationship never seemed natural to me, it always felt forced and they love each other just because it had to happen. Not really a fan of these circular affairs, fate cannot be changed shit, like they could've shown us how exactly it fails if it never works. Also after some extent it doesn't feel real because they almost have zero quarrels!! More like a high-school kid fantasy, which absolutely never happens in real life. It also feels a bit weird because Claire had known him as a middle aged man when she was just a child and why on earth would he have to tell her that he's her future husband?? It's basically a bit like conditioning, where everytime he sees her, he says he's her future husband causing her to etch that as a fact in her mind. Would have really loved if Alba was given more time in the book. It could have been cool having a time travelling father-daughter duo doing some mischievous acts <3. Also, the writer could have explored more into Henry's mother. Would have loved a scene between her and Henry, when Henry was really down during Clare's miscarriages, his mother in the past giving him the courage to move forward. Well, life doesn't always go as we expect it to I guess :)
