I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, I really enjoyed the first three quarters of it. On the other hand, I didn’t like the ending that much.

It all started quite well—if you forget about Patrick. We have a plus-size heroine who, despite a few demons, is trying to feel good about herself. Then we have the heroine’s brother’s best friend, who is a bit of a grump, but the kind of grump we like in the stories we read. A man with ambitions, but also a lot of decent values. All in all, everything was going—almost—swimmingly until we got to the last part of the book.

To be honest, the two main characters share the blame for the last part of the book. We have a workaholic who doesn’t know how to verbalise the things that trouble him, and we also have a person who would rather burst her eardrums than have a constructive and conclusive discussion. I must admit I was frustrated when I read the end of the book. I honestly wanted to shake up the characters of the book (by the way, when Miles becomes the most mature and sensible character, you know something’s wrong).

Anyway, I’m still going to read the rest of the series, continuing with Sincerely, Your Inconvenient Wife, which follows Saoirse and Luca.
