FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH NET GALLEY. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

I was actually rather surprised by this book! I've not been impressed with more recent installments of this series, but this one was actually rather entertaining! It started out with a bang, and while it was supposed to be fraught with tension, I actually found myself focusing on the relationship being built.

Mika and Thibault had an interesting dynamic being created. I liked how he was willing to sacrifice most of what made up his life for Mika. I also liked how strong Mika was as a heroine, especially with everything that was thrown at her.

The "suspense" plot was practically non-existent, and what was there fell very flat for me, especially the ending. I really felt that there was no resolution to the plot thread. This book also hinted at new members of the team, but nothing ever came of that either, so the reader is left wondering if this is the end of the series.

If this book is the end of the series, it's not that great of an ending! We don't find out until late in the book that 2-3 years have passed from the events of the previous installment, and that information is put in so haphazardly that it's easily overlooked. I'm also not entirely sure where things could go from here.

It was an entertaining read, but left me with more questions than actual answers.
