In the quaint town of Hoslewit, the biggest names in crime writing have congregated to celebrate all things bookish & murderous at the Killer Lines Crime Festivql. Author Jane Hepburn is determined this is going to be her year. She's not quite reached the heady heights of best-sellerdom yet, but is convinced that if she can just make the right connections at the festival, it could be the start of a whole new chapter for her & her books. Then her literary agent is killed, derailing Jane’s plans, but if she can solve the murder, perhaps it will provide the boost her writing career needs? If she lives to tell the tale, that is…

This was the perfect read ahead of my trip to Theakstons Crime & Thriller Festival in Harrogate, following my visit I can definitely see some similarities - thankfully minus the murder to solve of course!🤣

This is a fun, cleverly written book that introduces us to a wonderful cast of characters, I was kept captivated and intrigued the whole way through, each clue planted at appropriate points to make you think you have figured out the suspect, only for a few red herrings to completely throw off your thinking!

This is an example of cosy crime at its best, with an endearing lead character that you can’t help but love and root for. Alongside a cast of unlikely friends, the dysfunctional group bonds work wonders in building Jane’s confidence, her character leading the charge to a very satisfying conclusion. I am very pleased with how this title has been left, definitely leaving that door open for further adventures with Jane & co.

A whodunnit that keeps you guessing right to the very end, leaving you laughing out loud at several points. So pleased I read this when I did as has nicely complemented my first trip to Harrogate!
