Snow by Ronald Malfi

4.0

That's one to commemorate Austin's snowmageddon. A quite effective isolation horror, with a unique monster and some pretty solid characters. Sure, they dance with being the typical archetypes, but they give them enough personality to make them a little less generic. It's also delightful to see something besides zombies for once (though at first I was very worried this would be a zombies-by-everything-but-name-situation), and certain Lovecraftian moments near the end were nicely handled. It could be the icy weather outside clouding my judgment, but this is one of the better horror novels I've read recently and would recommend to fans of the genre.
