Five Winters by Kitty Johnson

emotional funny lighthearted medium-paced

5.0

Perfect book for Christmas time! It's comfy, cozy, and warm throughout. We follow the main character, Beth Bailey, across five consecutive Christmases. Like many women in their 30s, Beth feels the pressure to settle down and start a family. Time feels like it's running out at an increasing rate, year after year. We follow her through starting new relationships, crumbling relationships, and a seemingly helpless love that she can't extinguish.

There are hilarious moments in between with friends that are practically family. The ending is sugary sweet and sappy, but it wasn't all too predictable, and honestly, a happy ending is practically required for a holiday romance. The book is perfect for what it is.
