As I think about this more I believe the main character might have had visions while he slept walked, but I believe he was working through his grief, too. I think he was trying to prove to his dad that he could be the man of the house even though at times he wanted his dad back.
I did love the stories and sayings of the Natives and felt horrible how all of them were treated because they were Native especially when I think the sheriff deputy might be exploiting the mom. How the main character had to stick up for his brother on the bus.
I am still a little baffled about the dogs, I won't spoil it, but those who have read it know what I am talking about. Did the main character get possessed by his dad momentarily, did he do it under duress, just curious on how that happened.
