A Kingdom of Flame and Fury by Whitney Dean
4.0

Definitely recommend!

"I possess earth, fire, and ice. The very wind that gives you chills on a blustery day is the same one that runs through my veins. I am the elements."

The book started off with a bang and continued to capture my attention. There's so much to this book!  The plot is complex, having several layers and an air of mystery that keeps you coming back for more. It's well constructed, divulging details slowly enough to understand but keeps the pace fast and entertaining.

At 10 years old, orphaned Raven of unknown origin was unexpectedly appointed queen after the fallen king had willed her as his heir.  Secretly possessing dark magic, Raven learns to lead a double life between her queenly duties and shifting elemental personas.  At 25 years old,  she's successfully ruled one of four Kingdoms for 15 years with adviser Cade by her side.  However,  she's now facing dissension among her people from rumors spread about her abilities from an unknown source.  Enter Zeke, Raven's insta-love interest who's tasked with bringing her back to his kingdom under false pretenses.  Zeke has abilities of his own and tries to help Raven connect the dots to her origin.  However, conflicted in his task, Zeke pushes Raven into Cade's arms. Cue the love triangle - which is frustrating for me lol. After discovering herself, finding some answers and learning of all the betrayal, how will Raven proceed?
