i genuinely wanted to give this at least two stars. i never wanted to have to say i hated this book, but i did. it was just so boring. when i finished, i tried to think of something i liked, but absolutely nothing came to mind. it took me more than nine months to read this.

NINE. MONTHS.

i don't even remember half the shit that happened because practically nothing did happen. how is this a thriller? where's the thrill? i got to 75% and was wondering if i missed something because it was so bland. whenever i picked up my kindle to read, i just wanted to put it back down. but i was determined to finish. the entire book, i was hoping that it would pick up but it never did. the twist was just not good, i wasn't surprised when i really wanted to be. i'm honestly more disappointed in myself for just hoping that i would be wowed by the end. this was about as entertaining as watching paint dry. "page-turner" my ass. maybe, to finish it faster.

now, for the characters; i hated every one of them. except adam, and the only reason that is is because he's a literal infant. i didn't care what happened to anyone, because they all sucked. now that might sound mean because this is based off of gypsy rose's story, but rose gold was an annoying bitch. sorry (not sorry) to say it. her mother wasn't any better, because obviously not. the side characters also drove me insane. look, i don't mind unlikeable characters, or flawed ones (because all characters should be flawed imo), but i can't like a book where i don't have an ounce of sympathy for anyone except a baby.

okay. that's it. i've got my rage out. now it's time to end this review and hopefully never think of this book ever again.
