The Taking of Jake Livingston by Ryan Douglass

I hated almost everything about this book except Allister (the one star belongs to him).

Jake has got to be one of the worst and most uninteresting characters I have ever read anything could have happened to him and I fear I would not have blinked twice, and the entire other POV being centered around a guy who murdered 6 of his classmates was a chore to read, especially because it felt like the author was trying extremely hard to make you feel sorry for this dude (im sorry but what??). The plot made almost 0 sense to me, and the writing made it very very difficult to care about anything because the pacing was off in so many ways, and the horror aspect of it didn't even feel like it existed. As someone who reads a lot of YA, I was so excited for this, but what a huge disappointment it was.

I only finished this because I was curious to see what was going to happen with the love interest storyline with Allister tbh.
