The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

3.0

I expected this book to be a combination of some kind of escape room and Knives Out, and it fell a little flat for me. Mostly, I did not enjoy the family of enigmatic Hawthorne boys. Perhaps it was because the narrator's southern drawl for their boys mostly left me confused as to which one was speaking. However, I didn't really like any of them. They were pretentious, selfish, and condescending. So when our main character started to fall for one of them, I kept yelling, "Don't do it! He's a JERK!"

I felt the book could have been helped by a family tree in the front to help me navigate this family and alllllllllllllllll the relatives. Some good twists and turns along the way, but I wanted more puzzle solving.
