Carl and Princess Donut are still fighting for their lives. but now they have a murder chicken pet named Mongo.
Upon entering the third floor Carl and Donut have chosen their race and classes. Of course Donut had to remain a cat, but with her new class they get to rope Mordecai into more of their shenanigans. They're spit out into the Over City an area that has been devastated by some mysterious event. But, that doesn't mean it will be easy going. Instead they have to survive an undead circus, figure out why its raining dead prostitutes, and really just try to survive.
Much like the first book in the series, Carl's Doomsday Scenario is hilarious and gory. I was constantly on the edge of my seat wondering who would live until the next page and laughing at the item and monster descriptions. Through the facade of comedy, DCC addresses the role of capitalism, oligarchies, and social media while exploring what it truly means to be human.
