For the 58th installment of the In Death series, J D Robb still shows that she is at the top of her game after writing this series for almost 30 years. I still drop whatever I am currently reading to get to this on release day. Enough fangirling.
I liked the story of teen girls being murdered, and Dallas and Co having to work from a blank slate and piecing all the "seemingly" insignificant clues together to catch a killer. This time round we don't get inside the murderers head till midway through the book, which made me give any character being introduced the side-eye. I liked that we got to see some of the regular side characters, mainly the ones who have a connection to the NYPD or to the case. We do get a visit with Mavis and family, but sadly no Mr Mira or Crack. Even the Somerset banter was at the minimum, and no bloody clothes for him to complain about. I think for all the side characters and the inside jokes it would take a book double the length to fit them in. It was good that see the progression in Somerset and Dalkas relationship from where they started. Galahad had his attempted breakfast stealing scene, which never gets old, as if you have ever had a cat you will know they never stop trying.
A good solid entry in the series.
