It was fine. An easy read. I didn't like Ben, which was disappointing. This is a book that would have benefited from having his point of view included. We don't know anything about him except that he's cared a torch for Jenny for years and years. We don't know why he likes her, despite the chapters that go back through the years and getting to see them interact. And Jenny, for her part, didn't get to do a lot of likable things in this book. And that's okay, we all have unlikable periods in our lives, but outside of a few key moments, it wasn't easy to catch wind of the chemistry between them.

And even if you can get past all of that, he is really disappointing as a brand new boyfriend. Here be spoilers,
Spoilerbut the way he treats her as if they're now a foregone conclusion because they've gone on a date, and kissed, and had sex, is ridiculous. Maybe the intensity has to do with their age? Everything seems quite fresh and new when you're in your twenties and maybe possessiveness didn't smack as hard, I honestly don't remember. Had we gotten some of his inner monologue, perhaps his behavior wouldn't have seemed so strange.

Regardless, I initially rated this three stars but after writing this review I'm fairly confident that two is the correct number.
