Doctor Sleep by Stephen King
3.0

It was fun to see little Danny Torrance again and find out what became of him. This book has plenty of callbacks to [b:The Shining|11588|The Shining (The Shining, #1)|Stephen King|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1353277730i/11588._SY75_.jpg|849585] but the "shining" abilities play a much more prominent role here. Not as good as the original, but sequels rarely are. In particular, some aspects of the True Knot seemed a bit hokey to me, and King himself draws comparisons to vampires on multiple occasions. I'm looking forward to the movie version coming out this November. I always enjoy Stephen King's Author's Notes at the end, which offer insight into his writing process.
