I would've loved the book if it wasn't so forcibly vague. 
Yes, it's supposed to be from a 9 year olds point of view, but i find some things hard to believe.
I would think that a 9 y/o german child would know how to pronounce Auschwitz after one year of living there. Or how to pronounce "Führer" (leader), especially after he visited them.
