Inked in Lies by Giana Darling
5.0
Giana has done it again. And this time with a friends to lovers story that got me good.
Nova and Lila's story is an intricate one. They have known each other since Lila was 5 and Nova was 17. He was the boy that was always there for her is some type of way, as her protector, brother figure, and then best friend. I love how the story starts off from the beginning and takes us all the way to present, it made me connect with Lila's love for Nova that much more.
I LOVED the garden and flower metaphors that filled this story. This story is a little more tender and romantic than the previous Fallen Men books, but it still had the rough edges that I love from the Fallen Men. Nova is really that, a Casanova, and even though I spent half the book yelling at him to get his head out of his a**, the ending was worth every second. Lila is such a beautiful, strong female lead, and I loved watching her grow into the strong women that she became, but still have the soft heart that makes her her.
The plot was again solid, with connections from the first four books, but still independent enough that if you picked this book up first, you wouldn't be that lost. I still encourage to start from the beginning, but I love how Giana is able to weave the overarching plot through all the books in this way. I think it is a unique talent to have the books all connected but still allow readers to jump into the series at any point.
This was unrequited love/friends to lovers done right, and another great installment in the Fallen Men Series.
