Daylighters by Rachel Caine

4.0

Ahhh, what to say about the final book in the Morganville Vampires series? I started off 2013 with reading these books and ended the year by finishing the series - awesome-sauce! :D (Spoilers ahead....)

To be honest, after Fall of Night, I was super turned off by the book so I was like, "Eh, okay, whatever happens, happens irdc." I hated that we didn't get to see a lot of the other characters perspectives, I really wanted to know how Amelie was handling their unfortunate situation and I was really hoping that their escape was going to be a big one but... alas.... it was because of the Daylighters that they were taken out of their... Cage? (I'm gonna call it that)

Mrynin having enemies didn't surprise me; what surprised me was that he had an ARCH-ENEMY. That Daylighters guy was hell-bent on his plans, thinking his way was the right way but omg, wow. The anger that little man had lol - craaazy.

Can we just talk about how Michael is now A HUMAN?! The crazy thing that the Daylighters were working on ACTUALLY WORKED ON HIM?! Like holyyyyy cow! I was happy about it, but it was also an adjustment for me to deal with his non-vampy ways lol.

Once again, we find Shane in a shitty ass position -- now don't tell me you weren't tired of that because I honestly was.

I kinda found myself skimming through Shane and Claire's parts because I was upset at how quickly they seemed to patch things up. Granted, their lives were in danger (which is... 24/7) but no, his behavior was still unacceptable.

I really did love the relationship between Claire and Amelie -- it's been so powerful since the beginning and grew stronger as the series continued, awesome! :)

Loved the ending -- Michael and Eve renewing their vows while Claire and Shane got married along side them. Although, I do feel like Claire and Shane should have/could have waited but, whatever. It was still cute! :)

Overall, the series has been one hell of a ride with all the plots and whatnot! LOL. My friends and I are amazed that we're able to remember everything! Highly recommend!
