What a whimsical dark literary fantasy book! I will say this isn’t my favorite style for fantasy books, but I did enjoy the message at the end. I think for me I usually enjoy more fantasy books with bigger plots and action.
I was sometimes confused as to what was happening and what I needed to remember for it to all connect at the end. I did enjoy the two main characters but I wasn’t as invested with them until about 3/4 into the book.
Again, this might just be a me thing, and while I enjoyed the story and the importance of being a woman the message of redemption and owning what you do, I don’t think I will find myself thinking of this book as one of my faves at the end of the year.
